A bizarre body modification trend has been exposed on a new episode of National Geographic’s TV series, Taboo.
The ‘bagel head’ phenomenon involves injecting saline into the forehead for two hours, then pressing the centre of the protrusion to make the ‘bagel’ hole.
The TV series, which also features extreme piercing and tattooing, follows three Japanese body modification fans who undergo the intensive saline drip process.
Shocking as the look may be, it only lasts for 24 hours or less, at which time the forehead reverts back to normal. Taboo screens on Sky’s National Geographic channel here in New Zealand.
