Hot oil hair treatments have been around for years, but in their latest incarnation they are used not just for conditioning, but for cleansing and styling too.

Morroccanoil started the craze, with its lightweight feel and nourishing argan oil properties. Both mass and prestige brands have since followed suit so now you can use a hair oil whatever your budget.

Applied all over hair at night, it works to 'precleanse' hair by absorbing dirt and dust, so shampooing results in a more thorough removal.

Hair oils can also be used before heat styling, to protect hair and give a glossy finish. Always start with a minimal amount, until you get a feel for how much your hair can absorb without looking greasy.
