From their glittery red carpet clutches to their dazzling diamond earrings, celebrities love to stand out from the crowd with sparkling accessories.
It's no surprise that shimmering eyeshadow is a hot favorite right now with the A-list. Beauty brands have tons of metallic eyeshadow options launching now, so here are a few tips on how to shine without looking like a disco ball.
Go easy on the glitter
Think subtle shimmer, not chunky particles of glitter, especially once you have fine lines around the eyes. Metallics open up the eye when used sparingly - try a bronze shadow as eyeliner, or use silver shadow just in the inner corners to brighten the look.
Choose your shade
Olive skin tones can choose any metallic, but paler skins may suit silver better than a deep gold or dark copper. If you're stumped, look for your usual shade, but with a hint of glimmer - rose gold is pretty on fair skin, darker skins can try a metallic plum. Aside from gold, silver or bronze, there are many pearlised colours on counters that will add an attractive sheen to eyes, so experiment.
Set the scene
Smears of glitter across your face are never a good look, so use a primer or make-up setting product to ensure your shimmer doesn't travel.
Keep the rest low-key
Make your metallic eyes the focus and stay away from excessively shiny highlighter on cheeks or overly shimmery lips.
