A 22-year-old Venezuelan who spent five years training to be a nun has been crowned Miss World 2011.
Dressed in a crystal-encrusted baby pink gown, Ivian Sarcos wept as she was announced the winner of the pageant. The brunette beauty was orphaned as a child and always dreamed of becoming a nun. She says she wants to use her good looks to help other people.
More than 100 women took part in the competition, which was broadcast live in 150 countries to an estimated audience of one billion people.
Sarcos impressed the judges in categories including 'beach beauty' and 'top model'. (AAP)
